In his article (www.kunsten.be), professor of economics Pier Luigi Sacco calls our attention to a crucial tension in the way contemporary visual arts operate internationally today. In the last few years, the global art market has been in the midst of an enormous boom. From a distance, says Sacco, this might seem a good thing, but from close by, it presents a far less cheerful vision. Despite ever more and ever richer art collectors, for most artists, everyday reality has become increasingly difficult.

The visual artist Kris Van Dessel created a digital album (Urban Molotov), as a trojan horse, to register on a specific purchasing platform for musicians. The tracks on Urban Molotov are composed and mixed with recycled pieces from earlier sound works and field recordings. The artwork for the banner, the profile and the album was compiled with recycled images from former artworks. The artist registered in a different economy than the regular economy of contemporary visual arts.
