DEPENDENCE

A research into the best conditions and opportunities for an art space: projected layout of DMW Art Space in Borgerhout (Belgium), by using a yellow rope at the shore on Malta, where Tom Van Malderen lives and works.

"Art spaces must be accessible to public during regular opening times. Irregular and exceptional visiting times will allow for openings, nocturnal events, socializing and networking in support of the ideology of commodity fetishism in the art world.  Art spaces need to look beyond the highly-controlled context of the gallery that negates the surrounding matrix of space and time. Instead, the world beyond the art space should be included and prospects are to be found at outdoor locations, within the institutions of everyday life and in cyberspace. Art spaces should think and act global, and embrace experiments at the risk of failure."
