AS THE CROW FLIES

The artist has made As The Crow Flies for the exhibition "The Intuitionists" in The Drawing Center. It is the registration on scale 1/1 of the direct distance between his studio in Antwerp (Belgium) and the Drawing Center in NYC (3666 miles / 5900 km). In using a computer aided design program he put 5900000 blue lines of one meter (39.37 inch) on one sheet of A0-paper (33.1 x 46.8 inches). The ink, needed to print the lines, saturated the paper surface. The A0-drawing was folded to A4 as a road map and was sent to the Drawing Center, to travel the real distance.

In the exhibition the drawing is shown unfolded. Organized by Heather Hart, Steffani Jemison, and Jina Valentine / Curated by Lisa Sigal / 2014.
