PRONOIA - you were looking back to see if I was looking back at you to see you looking back at me
A specific title as an autonomous artwork for the exhibition “PARANOIA - I was looking back to see if you were looking back at me to see me looking back at you”. The inverted title of the exhibition itself, certified by an email to Tamara Beheydt, the curator of this exhibition. The interpretation of this artwork as well as its possible implementation in the exhibition was in the hands of the curator: 50 copies of the invitation flyer were reprinted with the inverted title. The artist invited artist Peter Lemmens to co-sign and number this reprinted flyers. This became an absurdly high numbered edition questioning the limitedness and the economic viability by virtually doubling up the whole edition. In 2016, both artists realized a certificate for the "Red Jacket" edition, issued by the same cultural center where this particular exhibition takes place. A collaboration with Peter Lemmens: Pronoia is the positive counterpart of paranoia. It is the delusion that others think well of one. Actions and the products of one's efforts are thought to be well received and praised by others. The flyer for the exhibition "PARANOIA" is duplicated as a limited edition of 50 copies. For this a doppelgänger, small changes have been made and the numbers of the edition are set in the millions. Indicating mass production rather than a limited set, it points at millions of other copies, distributed clandestinely.
