WHEN YOU CAME IN THE AIR WENT OUT

In times of polarization and the rise of the far right, censorship is running rampant. The artist feels it as his duty to protect potential “victims” from this. He is expanding his modest vinyl record collection — an important archive within his body of work — with records whose covers might be deemed “shocking” by a dictatorship. A sub collection that offers refuge to victims of censorship; an artistic sanctuary for political refugees. Like a scanning algorithm for social media, the artist searches for album covers featuring nudes, “offensive” scenes, “inappropriate” explicit lyrics, porn, prohibited symbols, etc. This specific archive will later be incorporated into the MUDAS (Museum Dichter Aan De Stroom) collection in Antwerp, Belgium.
