INTERNAL HIJACKING

One of the exhibition space's lamps was commissioned by artist Kris Van Dessel and painted with glow-in-the-dark paint by his co-exhibitor. During the art space's opening hours, the artwork is powered by the light from the lamp itself. The work is invisibly present during opening hours and visibly present after closing time. The work is simultaneously pedestal, container and exhibition space. The title of the artwork was hijacked from the title of the exhibition. Unless the lamp is ever removed or replaced, the artwork will always be latent, as a parasitic and invasive residue, during subsequent exhibitions.

Glow in the dark paint on a tube light / variable dimensions / site specific / 2024.
